Zusammenfassung

We start with a short presentation of virtual learning environments with their users, objects and processes. We discuss the creation, publishing and assessment of two types of e-learning materials (information and verification units) and present algorithms for course generation and carrying out education. The proposed model for planning of education has been included in the environments Plovdiv Electronical University (PeU) 1.0 and PeU 2.0. During the talk PeU 2.0 is presented as an example. It is a contemporary platform for design, development and support of virtual learning environments. The system is comparable to the best European samples. It not only satisfies almost all the criteria for assessment and comparison of the virtual learning environments, but it also has a number of unique functional characteristics: ƒæ Modeling the course for learning the given subject domain as directed graph with nodes containing grouped learning materials, linked with relations from type predecessor ¡V successor ƒæ Grouping materials into learning course nodes with logical relations from type and, or and case (in the last case check points are created, in which the assessment of the learners progress is generated automatically and the feedback with the respective teacher is realized) and the learning is automatically orientated according to the student¡¦s progress ƒæ Description of learning materials through lists of concepts, layers and used resources ƒæ Creation and editing of the learning courses on the base of logical grouping of the learning materials (created from different authors), setting the check points and relationships in the learning course ƒæ Automatic generation of dynamic learning courses and adaptation to particular learners ƒæ Carrying out learning with resource restrictions ƒæ Support of an integrated DB including the subjects of learning, subject domains, learning materials, learning courses, educational plans, etc. ƒæ Automatic construction, editing, visualization and assessment of a large variety of test assignments, including compound ones Dr. Elena Somova is an assistant professor at the University of Plovdiv. In her PhD work she designed and developed the e-learning environment PeU 1.0, which was awarded at the Plovdiv International Technical Fair in 2002.
