Abstract

State-of-the-art diagnosis of muscular disease is largely based on qualitative methods. While these methods are successful inasmuch as they allow trained professionals to characterize the type and to some extent the degree of involvement of various disease types, the lack of quantitative rigour poses problems in inter-practitioner transportability and in longitudinal measures of disease progression. This talk will present the underlying data domain of muscular disease, as well as discuss recent results in the use of quantitative diagnostic methods to produce characterizations of muscular disease involvement for use in diagnostic decision support.
Invited by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Sepp Hochreiter
