Differences between the PhD curricula 2018 and 2017

The PhD curriculum 2018 applies to all students who started their PhD studies after October 1, 2018 and before October 1, 2021. It differs from the previous curriculum 2017 in the following ways:

• The final reviewers of the thesis must be different from the supervisors.
• There must be a written dissertation agreement (Dissertationsvereinbarung) between the PhD candidate and his/her supervisors. This agreement has to be set up as soon as the direction of the dissertation becomes clear, ideally one year after starting the PhD, but at the latest immediately after the Dissertation colloquium (which in Computer Science is scheduled one year before the defense).
